It was a smashing success for the Fallon softball team.

The Lady Wave rolled past Truckee in a Northern Division I-A three-game set on Friday and Saturday at the Edward Arciniega Complex.

Fallon opened the series with a 19-0 win and followed with 14-0 and 9-2 victories on Saturday.

With the wins, Fallon improved to 4-0 in league and 5-4 overall, while Truckee fell to 0-3, 0-7.

On Friday, the Lady Wave pounded out 19 hits — three apiece by Megan McCormick and Kayla Buckmaster — as Fallon continued its strong start to open league play.

Pitchers Rileigh Ricken and Miranda Ford were perfect through three innings and as Fallon built a 15-0 lead.

Saturday’s twin bill was more of the same as Fallon jumped out early and overwhelmed the Wolverines.

Truckee struggled early as the Wolverines were called for at least four “no pitches.” The calls allowed one run to score and several runners to advance.

Fallon scored four runs in the frame and sent 10 batters to the plate.

McCormick, Ali Tedford and Izzy Thomas each had three hits. McCormick added a double and two RBIs, while Kalyn Huckaby, Buckmaster and Hannah Frank also each had two RBIs.

Truckee only managed a pair of hits against Buckmaster, who struck out four and walked one.

In the finale, Fallon again jumped out to an early lead, scoring eight runs in the first two innings. Truckee notched its first runs of the weekend with one each in the third and fourth innings and notched nine hits.

Up next for Fallon is a three-game series against Spring Creek. The first game is set for 3 p.m. Friday at the Edward Arciniega Complex followed by a doubleheader slated for 11 a.m. Saturday.
