WNDD awards small business loans

Western Nevada Development District awarded $90,000 to small business clients of the Nevada Small Business Development Center in Fallon.

The WNDD Board of Directors awarded two loans to local Fallon businesses. Buttsup Duck Designs and Too Cute Totes, both clients of the Fallon Small Business Development Center, will receive a total of $90,000 to be used for capital investment that will directly benefit the local economy.

Buttsup Duck Designs began in Kelly Campbellā€™s home in the spring of 2008. She recently moved her company to a 2,000 square foot commercial facility. The WNDD loan money will be used to purchase more equipment and offer her clientele even more services and add one full-time employee.

Campbell offers custom, in-house screen printing, embroidery, decals, and banners and also offers a wide variety of Fallon Greenwave apparel for various sports. Buttsup Duck Designs is located at 270 South Maine Street, #4 and can be contacted at 775-867-3825 or www.bduckdesigns.com.

Too Cute Totes also received a WNDD micro-loan. Karen Scott originally started the company in 2006, and will use the WNDD loan to expand her manufacturing facility. She will hire the equivalent of 1.5 full time employees as part of the agreement. Too Cute Totes offers a unique business model that has allowed Scott to continue expanding at a healthy rate making custom designed handbags and totes.
