Anne Marie Moriarty

Anne Marie Moriarty (nee Pedersen) left this world Oct. 15 after a two and half year fight with “Igor” (her name for pancreatic cancer). Anne was born in October 1945 and raised in Pinole, CA. The fourth of Esther and Art’s five children, she went to “the school on the hill,” Richmond High and Contra Costa College, followed by two years in Tanzania as a Peace Corps volunteer. She was raised and died a faithful Methodist. Anne loved the simple pleasures of life: a hand of cards and a glass of wine with her sisters, a good book, and planning vacations. She usually had several sewing and quilting projects going on at once, many of which were finished. She loved to sing, but couldn’t carry a tune. She always hated her hair, but prided herself on her nails. She read fairy tales out loud to her children and grandchildren and had a fabulous wicked witch voice (Disney: you missed your star). She lived most of her life modestly, but nursed a secret fantasy of becoming an eccentric old lady. (As of late she tended towards purple.) Anne is survived by her husband, Bill (who can carry a tune), five children, six grand-children, two sisters: Alice Morris and Marianna Greeson, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved Aunt Esther (aged 99) of Arlington, SD, where her Danish ancestors settled at the turn of the century. Anne loved the ocean - poking around tide pools and collecting shells - and has asked that her ashes to be scattered amongst the wild flowers overlooking the sea. She enjoyed her work and friends at the Carson City Library and asks that any memorials be made to the Carson City Library Fund.
