A couple weeks ago, my wife Peggy and I were able to spend a few days camping in the Bridgeport/Twin Lakes area. I have been going there for well over 50 years, as it was a favorite of my dad’s. He would take us kids there a couple times every year, so it’s full of great memories. It’s marvelously beautiful country and the fishing is pretty good most of the time.
One late night, I took our lab Lady out of our RV to “do her business.” There was no moon and it was incredibly dark. Then I looked up. Stars! Thousands of stars glistened in a sea of blackness. I stood in awe! The words of Psalm 19 came to my mind as my heart swelled with worship:
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It’s like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth. — Psalm 19:1-6.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Take time to look up, look around, see the beauty and majesty of God’s creation — after all, God created it all with us in mind because of His great love.
The God of creation is also the God “who became flesh and lived among us” — Jesus Christ, the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth, and who is alive forevermore! Worship Him!
