Ron Kendall of Carson City, Nevada peacefully passed away on August 27, 2014. He was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa on May 3, 1938 to Donald and Irene Kendall, where he grew up with his brother Jim and sister Harriet. Ron joined the Marine Corps in 1955 where he met and married Mary Scott, also a Marine and had two children Tammy and Scott. He served 2 tours in Vietnam and graduated from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. Throughout his 20 years in the Marie Corps Ron was affectionately known as “Captain Herbie Galoot”. He retired from the Marine Corps as a Captain and moved his family to Reno, Nevada to accept a job at UNR in the Computing Department. He married Janet Macdonald in 1987 and started his computer consulting business. Ron has been a member for many years of Toastmasters, the VFW, the Navy League and the American Legion. He had a great passion for the Drivers Ed program he developed and brought into schools in Carson City and Reno. He was always making friends with his kind nature and terrific sense of humor. Ron was always proud of his country and being a Marine. Semper Fi. There will be a memorial service with Military Honors at Bowers Mansion Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11am. In lieu of flowers you may send donations to “Honor Flight of Nevada” at P.O. Box 21123 Reno, Nevada.
