The Nevada State Museum is hosting a program and reception for the debut of the exhibit “Bill Raggio: A Man of His Word — Seldom Seen Collections from Sen. Raggio’s Early Life” from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Raggio, who died in 2012, spent 38 years in the Nevada Senate and 26 years as chair of the Finance Committee. He was Washoe County District Attorney for 18 years.

Mrs. Dale Raggio donated several pieces of Sen. William J. Raggio’s personal items to be shared in an intimate display at the museum. She will be featured at the event with the senator’s cousin, Skip Avansino, and his campaign manager and friend, Harry Spencer. The exhibit’s focus is on Raggio’s early life and other things that shaped him.

The event is open to the public. Admission is free.
