Alpine County Historical Society is hosting its History Mystery Scavenger Hunt from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 1 in downtown Markleeville.

Clue sheets, focusing on facts about Alpine County and Markleeville, can be purchased for $5 each at Alpine County Museum at the top of the hill off Montgomery Street. The answers to the clues are located on several downtown historic and community buildings in an approximate four-block area, plus the Museum Complex. All the answers are located on the exterior of buildings. Organizer say the hunt takes 1-2 hours to complete.

Light refreshments will be served from 3 to 4 p.m. on the day of the event at Alpine County Museum, where winners will be announced and prizes awarded.
