Historical Society of Dayton Valley is hosting two events to celebrate the town of Dayton on Saturday, Aug. 1.

An unveiling of the newly released “Dayton,” the first book about Dayton history released since the 1920s, will be from 1 to 5 p.m. The book, whose author is Laura Tennant and photography curator is Jack Folmar, will be available for purchase. All book sales go to the Historical Society of Dayton’s preservation projects. A 150th birthday celebration of Dayton’s 1865 Grammar School will be from 3 to 5 p.m., when schoolhouse history, former students, and guest speakers will be on hand, and refreshments and cake will be served.

Tours of Dayton Museum, located in the old schools house, one block away from Dayton Valley Community Center, will also be offered.
