Storyteller Joel ben Izza returning to Minden’s Dangberg Historic Park Wednesday

Storyteller Joel ben Izzy will present his newest tales in “Buried Treasures: Stories to Carry You Around the World and Back Again” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park.

For more than 30 years, Izzy, the author of “The Beggar King and the Secret of Happiness,” has traveled the world, gathering and telling stories from many countries. His six CDs of stories have won awards from the American Library Association, Booklist magazine, and the Parents’ Choice Foundation.

The park’s storytelling events are sponsored by Bently Enterprises, SoaringNV, Douglas County, the Record Courier, Carson Valley Inn and the Frances C. and William P. Smallwood Foundation. Other storytellers in the series will be Karla Huntsman on Aug. 26, Tom Wade on Sept. 16, and Juanita Westbrook on Sept. 30.

The park is at 1450 Highway 88, about a quarter of a mile north of the Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital. Visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or use one of the park’s chairs. Dogs are not permitted, with the exception of certified service animals.
