The city of Fallon in cooperation with the Churchill Arts Council will present the second summer, free in-the-park concert on Aug.15. The performance, by Mike Zito & The Wheel, will be on the Centennial Stage in Oats Park, in front of the Art Center.

The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Art center’s galleries and bar will be open following the performance. Two new shows will be on view.

In the Wiegand Gallery you can check out a show of collages and drawings, “How To Be Idle” by Wyoming artist, Tawni Shuler. The classroom gallery will present a collection of prints and mixed-media works by Eunkang Koh who teaches in the Art Department at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Mike Zito is singer and guitarist and co-founder of the Royal Southern Brotherhood band, which also featured the musicians Cyril Neville, Devon Allman, Charlie Wooten and Yonrico Scott.

His song, “Pearl River,” won Song of the Year at the 2010 Blues Music Awards. His 2011 album “Greyhound” was nominated for Best Rock Blues Album as was his 2014 album, “Gone To Texas.”

His band, The Wheel, includes Zito on guitar and vocals, Jimmy Carpenter on guitars and saxophone, Rob Lee on drums and Scott Sutherland on bass. The band has an amazing chemistry, honed from years if playing together on the road, and they offer up a tasty dose of classic electric blues.

The concert will be a great chance to get together with family and friends for an evening of outstanding music under the stars. For more information on the show you can call Churchill Arts at 775-423-1440.

The 2015-2016 Churchill Arts Council season brochure is currently at the printer and will be available soon. The brochure contains information of membership, a vital means of supporting arts programming right here in Fallon, as well as summaries of performances, exhibitions and reading scheduled for the coming year.

Once again CAC will bring a world of musical traditions to northern Nevada including Americana with The Leftover Cuties, Western Swing and Jazz with The Hot Club of Cowtown, Cabaret with Storm Large, Global Pop with Banda Magda and Contemporary Music of the Middle East with Niyaz.
