Western Nevada lawmakers landed key spots on several interim committees Monday including the Committee to Consult with the Director, Tahoe/Marlette study committee and the committees on juvenile justice and Seniors, Veterans and Adults with Special Needs.

Sen. Ben Kieckhefer, R-Reno, whose district covers all of Carson City, will be especially busy in the interim. Not only does he sit on the Interim Finance Committee and Legislative Commission, he’s chairing the Committee to Consult. He also sits on the Committee to review Regulations, the Tahoe/Marlette oversight committee and Public Lands panel.

Assemblyman P.K. O’Neill, R-Carson City, was appointed to the committee on Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice, in recognition of his 40 years of law enforcement experience. He was also named vice chairman of the Committee on Senior Citizens, Veterans and Adults with Special Needs.

Gardnerville Republican James Settelmeyer will chair the Committee to Review Regulations and be vice chairman of the Energy Committee.

Like Kieckhefer, he also sits on IFC and the Legislative Commission, the two most powerful interim committees who handle budget issues and policy respectively.

Assemblywoman Robin Titus, R-Smith Valley, was named chairman of the Post Acute Care study, a natural since she’s a physician.
