Betty Bensinger, a 51 year resident of Carson City, passed away at home on July 11th. Betty was very involved in her children’s lives. She spent four years as a Cub Scout den mother, 3 years as a Brownie Scout leader and taught craft classes for the San Fernando Boy Scout Council in California prior to moving to Nevada. After moving to Nevada, she became active in her college Phi Mu Sorority Alumni Association and was their president for 2 years. Betty was active in the Presbyterian Women’s Association for 12 years, and along with her husband Joe, led 4 couples clubs within the church. She was president of the Carson City Chapter of Daughters of the Nile, and spent several years as a museum docent. She spent over 12 years as a volunteer in the hospital gift shop beginning in the original hospital before it burned down. She was active in the Carson Tahoe Hospital Auxiliary and spent many years on its board. Betty was a lifelong Republican and was active in the Republican Women’s Club and in the Republican Central Committee. Betty and her husband Joe loved to travel, especially to historic areas in 3rd world countries. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Joe and son Jeff. She is survived by her sons Joe III (wife Twila), Jon, and daughter Marie, as well as 2 grandchildren, Jesse,and Jennifer. A visitation is planned for Monday, July 20th from 4 till 8p.m. at Walton’s for those wishing to pay their last respects.
