The card is about as set as it can be in professional boxing.

Barring a last-minute scratch, the eighth annual Fallon Fights will feature a slew of small, energetic yet furious fighters on a national stage.

All bouts are below 154 pounds as fans can expect a bevy of fights heavy on action. The annual event kicks off at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Churchill County Fairgrounds. Doors open at 5 p.m.

This year’s production is sponsored by the city of Fallon, Top Rank Boxing and Let’s Get It On Promotions.

The main event features Saul Rodriguez (17-0-1, 13 KOs) of Riverside, Calif., against Ramsey Luna of Corpus Christi, Texas, (12-3, 5 KOs) in an eight-round bout, which will also be televised nationally on Univision.

“I know Saul Rodriguez is a real good fighter and brings the fight to his opponents,” Fallon Convention and Tourism Authority Executive Director Rick Gray said.

Also scheduled to be on TV are Andres Tapia of Mexicali, Mexico, (8-4-2, 2 KOs) and Victor Pasillas (10-0) of East Los Angeles in an eight-round Super Bantamweight fight and Super Featherweights Rafael Busuioc (1-0) takes on Xavier Martinez (1-0) — both of whom are from Sacramento — in a four round affair.

Reno’s Oscar Vasquez (8-1, 1 KO) returns to Fallon and will battle Jose Toribio (6-1, 1 KO) of San Diego in an eight-round bout. Vasquez’s fight, however, is not schedule to air on TV.

As for the event, Gray said crews began Monday at the fairgrounds and expects work to be finished by Friday. In addition, a simulcast monitor will be tested and if operational, will provide replays for spectators.

“I think we are on real firm ground,” Gray said. “I think the fights will look very much like last year, in terms of spectacle. I think the lights for TV provide a better showing for those (in attendance).”

Admission at the gate is $30 for ringside, $15 for adults, $13 for military and seniors and $10 for children 10 and under.
