Carson City Comma Coffee hosting jazz and poetry with Mile High Jazz Band

The Mile High Jazz Band and vocalists Cindee LeVal and June Joplin will be joined by Rita Geil, pictured, and other award-winning poets and readers for an evening of big-band jazz and poetry from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson St.

The theme of the evening is, “You better watch out,” relating to the holidays as well as life situations. Other poets and readers are Wayne Carlson, Krista Lukas, Tracy McQuay, Tim Rhodes, and Sheila Steele. Jazz tunes follow each reading. Admission is $5 at the door and free for ages 18 and under.

The Mile High Jazz Band plays at Comma Coffee on the second Tuesday of the month, and poets join them every third month. For more information, call 775-883-4154, or go to MileHighJazz.com.
