A Fallon motorist fatally struck a pedestrian in Sparks Wednesday night, reports the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The NHP said Tiffany M. Hendrix, 29, was traveling southbound on East McCarran Boulevard when an adult man ran across the thoroughfare from the Silver State Plaza. According to the NHP, Hendrix hit the man, who was not using a crosswalk, in the left lane. The NHP said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Hendrix stopped at the scene of the accident to check the status of the pedestrian, called 911 and stayed on scene to cooperate fully with the investigation,” said Trooper David Gibson.”The NHP does not suspect Hendrix to be impaired at the time of the accident.”

Gibson said the speed limit is 40 miles per hour, and there is spot roadway lighting.

Trooper Karen Garretson of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (MIRT) is investigating this incident.
