Carson Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott McDaniel is urging Super Bowl fans who plan to see the game somewhere other than their home to arrange for a sober ride before Sunday.

“During events such as these, people have a tendency to over indulge and lose track of just how much alcohol they have consumed,” he said.

He said football fans should arrange for a designated driver or taxi to get them home ahead of time to avoid a possible DUI or, worse, car crash.

He said walking home isn’t a good idea either since intoxicated pedestrians may stumble into the roadway in front of a vehicle.

“As many of you will be with friends, look out for one another and be the voice of reason, help diffuse situations which can lead to violence,” he said. “Enjoy the game and remember to drink responsibly.”
