Churchill County, in cooperation with Lyon County, the cities of Fallon and Fernley, Naval Air Station Fallon, and other agencies and organizations in the region, is preparing a Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) to address compatibility planning around NAS Fallon and the Fallon Range Training Complex (FRTC).

The overall goal of the JLUS is to protect the viability of current and future missions at NAS Fallon while accommodating growth, sustaining the economic health of the region, and protecting public health and safety.

The public is invited to join us at the third JLUS public workshop in Fallon. This workshop will present the JLUS Report and Strategies developed through input by the Policy and Technical Committees, the public, and interviews with key agencies and organizations. This will mark the beginning of the public review period of the JLUS Report.

In order to develop a plan that is responsive to local needs, input from the public is essential. The second public workshop was held on Oct. 9, 2013, and provided a review of the compatibility issues identified, and the public assisted in finalizing and prioritizing the issues to be addressed in the JLUS.

Date: Thursday

Time: 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Location: County Commission Chambers, 155 N Taylor St.

The public is encouraged to attend this workshop and help in the development of the NAS Fallon JLUS. Further information, including the upcoming workshop’s agenda, can be found on the project’s website at www.fallonjlus.com
