Western Nevada College invites the community to participate in the second annual “Journey of Hope Friendship Visit” to Western Nevada College from 5-8 p.m. on Friday.

Presented by WNC and the Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities, the event is a stop on a cross-country cycling trip by The Ability Experience, which brings awareness and support to people with disabilities. Journey of Hope is one of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity’s national philanthropy efforts to serve people with disabilities.

“My co-host (Kari Horn) remembers the energy and humility of the college fraternity brothers who participated last year and how much fun it was,” said Susan Trist, WNC’s coordinator of Disability of Support Services. “We anticipate that we will draw even more community involvement this year.”

One special addition to the event will be a kids’ corner offering face painting, coloring, a bicycle obstacle course for beginners/young children, and the creation of balloon animals.

Like last year’s event, food will be provided, and entertainment will include a DJ with karaoke, and a raffle prize drawing.

Local disability resources and information will be available, and the public will have an opportunity to meet the cyclists.

Activities will take place both inside and outside WNC’s Joe Dini Student Center. For more information, contact Trist at 775-445-4459 or susan.trist@wnc.edu.
