The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 2-year-old Fernley boy.

The boy died on May 29, after being transported to Renown Medical Center for lifesaving treatment.

Deputies arrested the mother’s boyfriend, Shiloh Weaver, on suspicion of child abuse with substantial bodily harm. Investigators are trying to determine whether the boy died because of injuries sustained while in Weaver’s care.

Weaver posted his $250,000 bail, for the child abuse charges, however the Lyon County District Attorney is considering amending the charges to homicide, though a final decision won’t be made until next week, said District Attorney Stephen Rye. The charges will be amended if investigators can determine the child died because of abuse.

Investigators are asking citizens if anyone saw parenting issues between Shiloh and the boy and if anyone has any information, however insignificant it may seem, to contact detectives at 775-577-5206 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.
