The Carson City Classic Cinema Club is hosting its inaugural Hollywood Gala Dinner and Fundraiser, whose theme is based on the first Academy Awards held in 1929, on July 18 at Gold Dust West Casino.

The event offers photos on the red carpet, dinner, raffles and a silent auction. The club will present its first Carson Studies Trust award to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada. Prizes will be awarded for the best classic celebrity costume and best 1920s fashion.

A no host bar opens at 6 p.m., with dinner following at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $35 each at County Purr Farm Scrapbooking, 3220 U.S. Highway 50 E.

The Carson City Classic Cinema Club, a nonprofit formed last year, meets on the first Tuesday of the month at Red’s Old 395 Grill to watch a classic film and share trivia, production notes and backstory about the film. Membership fees, general admissions and raffle ticket sales go to disadvantaged youth to participate in the arts.
