Community spotlight: Carson bowlers roll over Wooster

Carson High’s bowling team opened the playoffs with an easy 36-9 win over Wooster last week.

The match was conducted in the Baker-style format, which means three bowlers comprise a team.

The group of Tyler Lethcoe, Brett Paulson and Matt Liddell rolled games of 161, 148, 225, 186, 148 and 203. Alec Fletcher, Matt Hinton and Chris Baird bowled games of 212, 242, 191, 175, 173 and 208. Conlin Herrick, Dustin Floyd and Skylar Belcher rolled 180, 230, 181, 171, 180 and 175. Samantha Hinton, Clayton Sollberger and Dom Cerniglia had a 171, 170 and 132, and Eugene Mills, Liam O’Brien and Nicko Chotisin had a 154, 169 and 139.

Golf tourney at CVGC

The annual St. Patrick’s Day golf tournament is March 14 at 10 a.m. at Carson Valley Golf Club,

The format is a 4-peson scramble.

The cost is $40, which includes green fee, cart, potato soup and corned beef sandwich. Donate three food items to the Food Closet and receive a mulligan. The limit is three mulligans. For more information, call 265-3181.

Packers remain undefeated

The Packers stopped the Dolphins (37-18) and the 49ers (45-18) in Talents Indoor Flag Football League action last week.

Against the Dolphins, Zach Gurthie threw for three scores, while Decarlo Quintana and Quentin Beck threw for one each. Keagan Ferris and Alex Myrehn scored twice.

In the win over the 49ers, Guthrie threw for five scores and Quintana threw for one. Myrehn caught four TD passes and Quintana caught two.
