The Tenth Judicial District Court added five more advocates to the recently formed Churchill County CASA program.

Since its inception in July 2014, the court has trained and sworn in 14 advocates. The CASA program is currently assigned to 15 cases involving 28 youth within Churchill County. The program helps children have a voice in the courtroom to assist the court in determining what is in a child’s best interest and to help them find safe and permanent placement within 12 to 18 months of having been removed from their homes. These advocates may be the only consistent person in the child’s life.
