Matriarch to one of Dayton’s settling families passed away on April 28, 2015 surrounded by family. Gail’s father Paul Nieri immigrated to the US from Italy at 15, fleeing from Benito Mussolini. Arriving in New York, Paul traveled to San Francisco then settled in Dayton, where he married Gilda (Parlanti); daughter to one of Dayton’s founding ranching families. Together, Paul & Gilda had 3 children: Paul Jr., Gail and Marian. Gail married Paul Howard in 1961. They enjoyed almost 50 years of marriage until Paul’s death in 2010.Paul & Gail raised their three sons next door to Paul &Gilda Nieri. Gail is survived by her children: Danny & Cyndi, Randy, and Paul Howard. Grandchildren: Brian and Dakota Howard, Daniel & Amber Martin. Great-Grandchildren: Rebecca and Isaiah. Nieces/ Nephews: David & Cheryl Park, Bobby Gillings. Jeff, DeeAnna, Eric & Alex Eller. Sister-In-Law Donna Nieri. Gail is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, nephew (Stephen Nieri) and her loving husband Paul.

Friends and family will mourn the loss of a true Italian spirit who opened her home sharing a warm meal that not only filled your stomach but your heart. Join the family for a Celebration of Life at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday May 6, 2015 at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley on 1281 N. Roop St in Carson City. Gail will join her husband at the Dayton
