Tracksters solid at Lowry invite

In the final preparation for Friday and Saturday’s regional track meet, the Fallon programs had a solid showing at the Lowry Invitational last week.

The boys placed second with 118 points behind winner Elko (237), while the Lady Wave took third with 60 behind Elko (217.5) and Lowry (150.5).

Fallon now prepares for this weekend’s Northern Division I-A regional meet at Fernley. Friday’s action begins at 2 p.m. and Saturday kicks off at 9 a.m.

For the boys at Lowry, Nathan Heck took third in 100-meters in 11.71 seconds followed by Jake Ernst in sixth (11.98) and Cole Service in seventh (12.04).

Cameron Kissick was second in the 400 (51.93), while Tristen Thomson placed second in the 800 (2:01.44) and was also third in 1,600 (4:42.39).

Heck, meanwhile, also won the 110-hurdles (15.39) and pole vault at 13 feet, 6 inches, while Jordan Schultz placed fourth in the 300 hurdles (44:58).

T.J. Mauga won the discus with a throw of 159-8 and took third in the shot put at 43-2.25 to continue his impressive sophomore campaign.

Heck was at it again in the field as he placed third in the long jump (21-2.5) and Ernst was sixth (19-5.5). Ernst, though, was fifth in the triple jump (39-5). Miguel Lebron placed fourth in the high jump (5-4)

For the Lady Wave, Jordyn Rogers took seventh in the 800 (2:49.61), while Amanda Pursley was sixth in the 3,200 (14:58.34).

LeAnn Stands had a solid performance the shot put (32-9) as she took second and Misaki Clare was seventh (29-2). Stands also placed fourth in the discus (97-3), while AmiDayne Nelsen was seventh (81-6).

Brynlee Shults was sixth in the high jump (4-4), third in triple (31-5.5) and fifth in the long (14-6.5). Clare took sixth in the triple (29-8).

Cierra Leal placed fifth in the pole vault at 6-6 followed by Caitlin Knox in seventh (6-0) and Angelita Fermaint in eighth (6-0).


Golfers fourth at South Tahoe

Fallon’s best performance of the season netted a fourth-place finish at Edgewood Country Club in South Lake Tahoe on Thursday.

The Greenwave carded a 434, but Elko (405) won the tournament followed by Spring Creek (422) and Lowry (427). Truckee, meanwhile, finished fifth with a 437 total.

Fallon’s Corbin Waite was the Wave’s low man as he shot a 78. Raymond Plasse and Jeff Evett each came in with an 87, while Kelvin Cann mustered an 88.

Mike Richards II also shot a season-best with a 94 and Nick Smith carded a 100.

Currently, Waite, Plasse and Cann are among the final six individuals from non-qualifying teams to reach next week’s state tournament at Old Greenwood Golf Course in Truckee.
