The Wave’s Tristen Thomson, ranked fourth in Northern Nevada, qualified for the boys’ regional competition.

The Wave’s Diana Martinez from the girls varsity team represented in the regionals.

Thomson placed second out of 54 runners and will represent Northern Nevada against the best from the South in the upcoming competition with a time of 17:44.

Churchill County’s boys were one place from qualifying as a team but did not make the cut.

Other representatives for the boys were Devin Frederick placing 21 (19:00); Ethan Smith, 27 (19:21); Justin Cathey, 29 (19:36); Isiah Williams, 33 (19:53); Kapili Gleason, 35 (19:58); and Michael Anderson, 48 (21:17).
