Feb. 12, 1925 - Oct. 21, 2015

Linc was the youngest of six born to Mary Louise McMahon-Snider and Joseph William Snider in Daisetta, Texas. He was preceded in death by his three brothers and two sisters: Joe, Bob, Kirk, Louise and Dot Snider, and his beloved wife, Derva Jeanne Snider. He is survived by son Gary Snider, daughter DeAnna Snider-Anderson, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Linc graduated from South Park High, Beaumont, Texas, in 1942. He had been working with W.C. Wells Const. Co. when Uncle Sam gave him a call. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. When asked about a job preference he stated he was interested in Aviation and was sent to Pre-Flight School in Athens, Georgia, where he became a certified Aviation Machinist Mate. He had just begun fight training (141 hours) when he was called to the Pacific.Linc was honorably discharged in 1946, having been awarded the Victory and Good Conduct Medals. He was presented with the Honor Man of Company 39 by General Omar Bradley. He married the love of his life in 1947 in Los Altos Hills CA, where he continued his education, earning the degree of Associate in Arts from City College of San Francisco. He had begun studying at the University of California Hastings College of Law when his son was born. Working part time and going to school full time began to prove too much, and Linc knew with a growing family he needed a more stable income. Turning to his brother-in-law for a job with Pan American Airlines, Linc was back to his first love -- Aviation. He started his career with Pan Am in 1952 as a mechanic and worked his way up to the right seat before he retired in 1987. In 2004, after traveling in their RV, Linc and Derva moved to Carson City. They were happy here, and made many close friends in the community. A celebration of Linc’s life will be held at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley in Carson City, on Monday, November 2, at 6:00 pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Gentiva Hospice, 1625 E. Prader Way #108, Sparks Nevada, 89434. “Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth, And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds, - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air... Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew -And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space,Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.”
