A local watercolor and oil painter is hosting an open studio from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at 720 Addler Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

Teri Sweeney’s 6th Annual Open Studio will feature her latest original artwork, prints and cards. This year, two miniatures, which will be shown in February at the Settlers West Miniature Show in Tucson, Ariz., will be displayed.

“Morning Mist”, one of Sweeney’s latest paintings of the Carson Valley and which recently won Best of Show in the CVAA Scholarship Show in Minden, will be on display and for sale. There will be a blind auction with no minimum bid for one of her pieces.

Sweeney teaches weekly intermediate painting and beginning oil classes at her studio. Visitors at the open studio can take a look at her classroom demonstration pieces by Sweeney and Ann Proffitt, who will also be showing work at the event. Both artists will be available to discuss the classes and answer questions. For more information, call Sweeney at 775-790-9261, or email terisweeneyart@hotmail.com.
