Tri-Net seizes half pound of meth in Carson City

The Carson City Tri-Net narcotics team seized nearly a half a pound of methamphetamine following a month-long investigation.

The unit set up a drug deal with the suspected supplier Wednesday afternoon at the North Carson Taco Bell, and when the undercover officer tried to buy the drugs from the suspected dealer, the suspected dealer was arrested. Tri-Net Sgt. Dan Johnson said the department got nearly one pound of high quality methamphetamine from the male suspect over the course of the month, including the half a pound that was found in the vehicle Wednesday. Two people were arrested in the raid: Markell Johnson, 42, the alleged dealer and Desire Kissel-Hunziker, 26, who allegedly drove the suspect to each drug deal. They believe the male suspect lives in Reno and has been selling meth and supplying to drugs dealers in Carson City.

“This just highlights the fact that Reno is starting to source to Carson City,” Sgt. Johnson said. “It is a trend for everything, but we just happened to tap into meth with this case.”

The two suspects will be charged with three to four counts of level three drug trafficking, a charge that can hold a possible life sentence in prison as well as sales of a controlled substance, conspiracy to violate the uniform controll act and possession for sales.

Carson City and Douglas County Special Enforcement Teams and the DEA were also involved in the investigation and execution of the Wednesday raid. Sgt. Johnson said it was a successful case.
