With three golfers shooting in the 80s, Carson High’s golf team finished third in the weekly Sierra League tournament Monday at Eagle Valley.

Galena, with three players shooting a 1-under-par 71, won with a 361 followed by Bishop Manogue at 392. The Senators, playing on their home course, shot 443. Damonte was fourth at 457 and Wooster was fifth at 497. Douglas failed to field a full team.

Bebop Martinez shot 82, Matt McCarthy 84, Lakoda Smokey 86, Ty Evans 92 and Taylor Saarem 99. Ethan Lepire had a nonscoring 109.

“Everybody played well today,” CHS coach Wade Greenlee said. “They all established personal bests on the West Course which was outstanding. It was perfect golf weather, and that helped them make better shots. We still need to be better at course management, and our play on par-5s needs to improve.

“Bebop continued his steady play, and it was nice to see Matt play so well the last time as a senior on this course. Ty struggled on the front nine, but played a strong back nine which shows his potential. I was proud of everybody’s effort today.”

The Senators return to action April 25 at Dayton.
