The Nevada Division of Forestry will be conducting a prescribed burn at the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area, north of Yerington, at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21 and Friday, April 22, weather permitting.

The burn of about 300 acres is being conducted in cooperation with the Department of Wildlife. Its goal is to remove the growth of cattails and weeds to improve wildlife habitat in the wetlands.

Weather patterns will be monitored for smoke management prior to and during burn. The timing of the burns depends on optimum weather conditions.
