Arnold L. Paloolian

Arnold Paloolian, a 40 year resident of Carson City, passed away August 12 after a lengthy battle with COPD at the age of 96.

He was born on November 2, 1919 in Niagara Falls, NY.

An avid fisherman and outdoorsman, Arnold also had a passion for photography, producing many exceptional photos.

A mechanic by trade, Arnold worked for Los Angeles County for nearly 30 years, working on heavy road equipment including graders, rollers, and large trucks. He always preached that “you need to have the right tool for the right job or task.” He was proud to say he was retired longer than he worked.

Arnold served with honor in the 66th Infantry Division (Army) during World War II including a tour of duty in Lyme Regis, England, a place he often spoke of with high regard. He enjoyed family outings and just being around the younger kids made him feel a sense of pride. We will miss his wisdom and sincerity, but the memories will continue.

Arnold was preceded in death by his wife, Rose in 1997 and brother Paul (2016).

He is survived by nieces Paula Morton (Carson City), Eileen Gray (Santa Cruz, CA), nephew Mark Paloolian (Carson City), sister-in-law Eileen Paloolian, six great-nieces and nephews, and ten great, great nieces and nephews.

Arnold’s final wishes were honored with his remains being donated to the UNR School of Medicine. He lived a happy and fulfilling life and his impact on his family and friends will be felt forever. He was a big part of the “Greatest Generation” that survived the Great Depression and saved the world in WWII.
