Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Exhibition planned at Dangberg Ranch in Minden

Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Exhibition is coming to the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27.

The Grand March & Opening Ceremony will feature the Douglas High School Marching Band, the 1st Nevada Cavalry Co. D. along with bugler Ray Ahrenholz, and a cast of celebrities and presenters. Sarah Winnemucca Hopkins will sing the “Star-Spangled Banner” for the Opening Ceremony and the Closing Ceremony will feature Krista Jenkins singing “America the Beautiful.”

There will be performances by the Pony Express, Wild Bill Hickok, Annie Oakley, Calamity Jane, Bat Masterson, Sarah Winnemucca Hopkins, Krista Jenkins, The Nevada Gunfighters, The Mayfield Gang, Major General John M. Schofield & Lieutenant Colonel William R. Price and The Wild Cards Quartet.

Meet the man himself, Buffalo Bill Cody, Champion Bucking Horse Rider Lulu Bell Parr, the Earp brothers with Doc Holliday, and the Battleborn Civil War Reenactors.

Event sponsors are Soaring NV, The Record-Courier, Bently Enterprises, Carson Valley Accounting, Douglas County, Nevada and the Frances C. and William P. Smallwood Foundation.

Tickets are $10 for adults, free for 16 and younger when accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available, while they last, in Gardnerville at Battle Born Wine, in Minden at 88 Cups & More. Tickets must be purchased in advance for this event.

Wild West food will be provided by Skinny’s BBQ. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch. A 50/50 raffle will benefit the Douglas High School Marching Band and the Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch. Attendees will receive a complimentary program and event souvenirs will be available for purchase.

The gate will open at 11 a.m. and the show will run from noon until 3 p.m. with an intermission. Living History presenters, food, refreshments and vendors will be available before the show, during intermission and after the show.

This is an outdoor event, and visitors are invited to bring their own seating. Dogs are not permitted at this event.

The park is located at 1450 Highway 88, 1/4 mile north of the Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital.
