Cecile Jenkins Huntzinger was born July 10, 1922 to Robert Jenkins and Minnie Adams near Delta, Utah. She died August 20, 2016, at the age of 94 in Fallon, Nevada.


Her younger years were spent in Delta, Utah and near Great Falls, Montana during the Great Depression years.


The family moved to Los Angeles, California in 1936 where she spent her teen years. On December 23 of 1940 she married Ralph Timothy Huntzinger. The two of them shared 73 years of marriage, sweethearts all of their years together and beyond. They lived in Maywood, California where their first child was born.


It was World War II, and while Ralph was overseas with the Seabees, Cecile worked at the Goodyear plant. During the war Cecile moved to Farmington, New Mexico where Ralph joined her after the war ended. In Farmington six more children were born. In 1967 they moved to Hayward, California where they lived before moving to Fallon, Nevada in 2004.


Cecile was a skilled, talented craftsperson and seamstress, creating through the years an abundance of original items treasured by family and friends. She shared her knowledge, expertise and love of creating with many of all ages

and backgrounds.


As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she rendered years of service to others. Cecile was an outstanding wife and mother, making home always cheerful and welcoming. Their home was a haven for numerous extended family and friends throughout the years. She made friends wherever she went in the world, from the U.S. to Europe, Asia, Haiti and Mexico.


Cecile is survived by: Linda Gail (Petersen Calhoun), Ralph LaVar (Judy), Tamara Kay (Layton), Terry Jean (Webb), Curtis Ivon (Ruth), Bradley J.(Kendal), Brett Allen (Rowena), a sister LaVonne J. Babbitt, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.


Cecile J. Huntzinger was dearly loved and a delight to all who knew her.


The family wishes to thank the caregivers at The Homestead in Fallon, for their consideration and tender care of our mother in her last days.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 9:00 am, at the LDS Church, 750 W. Richards St. in Fallon. Visitation will precede services at 8:00 am.


Burial will follow in the Churchill County Cemetery in Fallon under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home. 775-423-2255.
