Heroes Remembered blood drive is Sept. 2 in Minden

Area residents are asked to help save lives while honoring those impacted by the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, at the Heroes Remembered blood drive.

The drive from noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 2 will be at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden. All blood drive participants also can enter to win the 10th Annual Driving for Donors 2016 Toyota Giveaway sponsored by Northern Nevada Toyota Dealers.

Blood collection agencies say this summer has been an especially challenging season compared to years past to collect blood due to a variety of factors, including the impact of the Zika virus, an increase in hospital demand for blood and decrease in blood donations.
