Rae Eagleson McCluskey Tooley of Clearwater, Florida passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the age of 82 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater.


Rae was born January 22, 1934 in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Stanley Eagleson, Jr. and Sarah K. White. She graduated Mt. Carmel High School in Illinois and attended State College for one year. After college, Rae moved to Sacramento, CA, to embark on a career in retail fashion. She loved travel and adventure.


Returning to her home town of Mt. Carmel, she met and married Lorne McCluskey (now deceased), a geologist in the oil industry whose job opportunities took them to Oklahoma and eventually to Canada.


Rae became a real estate agent while in Canada and continued her career upon her return to the United States.


She met her future husband, Howard Tooley, a fellow realtor. Rae and Howard were very active in Carson City, Nevada in real estate, politics, community groups and their church. Rae was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and past President of the Nevada State Republican Women. Howard and Rae saw much of the country through their various associations. They loved travel and saw the world via cruise ship.


Rae and Howard retired to Clearwater four years ago. Rae was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Clearwater.


Rae was predeceased by her husband Howard, her parents Sarah and Albert Wood, and her brother, John.


Rae will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Sarah (Keith) Boguski and Wendy McCluskey, her two granddaughters Melissa and Samantha, and her great granddaughter, Amaya. Also surviving is her sister Susie (Gerald) Brooks of Mt. Carmel, IL, numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.


A memorial service will be held 11am Thursday, Sept. 1 at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Sylvan Abbey is serving the family with the arrangements to view Rae’s tribute wall and leave on-line condolences at www.sylvanabbey.com


Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Rae’s memory to Barney’s Prairie Christian Church, 10664 N. 1800 Blvd, Mt. Carmel, IL 62863 or to a charity of your choice.
