Wolfgang, a thirty-year Minden resident, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side.


He was born a German citizen in Obornik, East Prussia, and immigrated to the United States when he was 17. He supported his mother with two jobs until his father and brother joined from Germany the following year. He graduated with honors in accounting from Cal State Long Beach. He met his wife Marsha at a Bible college in Dallas, Texas, where they were married in 1968. They moved to Washington State in 1974, where he continued his work in accounting. He was transferred to Carson City in 1985 by his employer, Amerigas. He was a member of the Gideons and provided ministry services in the Evergreen nursing homes. He was a faithful husband and father and enjoyed his relationship with Christ. He loved to swim, hike, read, sail, camp and play games with his children and grandchildren.


Wolfgang was preceded in death by sisters Astrid and Ilse, and parents Ernst and Gertrud Winckler.


He is survived by his wife Marsha Winckler, brothers Johannes of Switzerland and Gerhard of Germany, children Christopher Winckler, Heidemarie Osborn, Sonja Velez and Erika Splawn, and eight grandchildren.


A memorial service will be held at Hilltop Community Church on Saturday,December 10 at 1:00 PM.
