Lafrance to have meet and greet in Fallon

Sara Lafrance has announced she is running for the Board of Regents position vacated by Ron Knecht.

Filing for statewide and local offices begins in March.

Because Knecht was elected state controller, Gov. Brian Sandoval appointed Robert Davison to fill the seat. Davison has said he will not seek a full term.

Lafrance is hosting a meet and greet in Fallon on Feb. 11 at the Old Post Office from 5:30-7:30 p.m. RSVP to Michon Mackedon at 775-423-4798.

Lafrance is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno and is quite familiar with the university system, having served on the UNR Foundation Board for many years and earning top honors for her service. Lafrance said she is willing to listen and put in the hard work necessary to serve tdistrict that also includes Carson City.

In 2005, Lafrance and her husband, Leonard, established Educational Pathways International, a charitable foundation with the mission of recognizing, nurturing and supporting gifted young people in developing areas of the world as well as contributing to educational programs and establishing scholarships for gifted children in their local area.

Prior to this, she co-founded and served as president of Century Analysis, Inc., a software manufacturer that provided integration solutions to large commercial, industrial, and healthcare enterprises, from 1975 to 1998 when she returned to Nevada.
