Retired ranger Robert Burke to feature at Carson City Leisure Hour Club Feb. 17

Members of the Carson City Leisure Hour Club will hear about the exploits of “The Mountain Man” at its dinner meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 17. The session will be presented by retired California State Park Ranger Robert Burke.

Burke, a Washoe Valley resident, attended Humboldt State University and received a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management with a minor in biology. For the next 30 years, he worked as a California State Park Ranger, with 25 of those years at Lake Tahoe.

To attend the event, call Dorothy Link at 775-885-2542 no later than Thursday to make a reservation.

The meeting is preceded by a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. in the Carson Nugget Capitol Ballroom. Reservations for dinner are required.

The Leisure Hour Club, established in September of 1896, is Carson City’s oldest continuously operating social organization. Continuing to celebrate its 118th year, the organization continues to focus on its goal of promoting knowledge on important issues, science, music and literature.
