Carson City needs new leadership

The citizens of Carson City should take notice of the following facts.

First, sales tax dollars are up about 6 percent over the previous year. The largest producer of the sales tax revenue is an automobile purchase.

Recent real estate sales information suggests a Nissan dealership is planned for Carson City. Nissan’s market share in the United States is about 10 percent, according to Crain’s Automotive News. Logically, our sale tax revenue could rise another 10 percent.

That’s the good news.

On the downside, our “leaders” claim we need to peg the gas tax to inflation so we can repair our existing roadways.

By comparison, there is sufficient money to run our city/county. What we lack is economic restraint and common sense on the part of our “leaders.” Instead of a new downtown and new tax revenue, how about we get new leadership?
