The Carson City Senior Center, 901 Beverly Drive, is rolling out new programs and activities for local seniors.

The center is hosting dances, the first of which will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, every other month in the Sagebrush Room. Kick up your heels to the musical talent of Don and Nadine and enjoy light refreshments.

Tickets for $5 per person are available at the door. All ages welcome. Volunteers are being recruited to help with ticket sales, refreshments, and set-up/clean-up. To volunteer, call the center at 775-883-0703.

The center is also offering free social and shopping trips. March destinations include a tour of the MAC, a trip to the VA hospital, mall and Social Security office in Reno; and Harveys Lake Tahoe. Participants are required to sign up in at the center. Call the center for more information.

The center is offering a new program, Open Forum, in which participants will meet on the first Friday of the month to talk about current events, sports and other topics of interest. The group’s first meeting, to focus on the presidential race, is at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the center’s Tahoe Room.
