U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., will join a growing list of prominent Democrats planning to attend the rural Nevada “First in The West” dinner to be held in Minden on Jan. 30.

She will speak on behalf of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“We are thrilled that Senator Claire McCaskill will be joining us,” said Douglas County Democratic Central Committee Chair Kimi Cole. “Her participation shows just how important this event is and also the key role that rural counties will play in this year’s historic elections.”

McCaskill is the first woman in Missouri elected to the U.S. Senate, where she has served since 2007. Prior to her election to the Senate, where she’s now the senior Senator from the “Show Me State” and top-ranking Democrat of the Senate Homeland Security Committee’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (formerly the “Truman Committee”) and the top-ranking Democrat on the Special Committee on Aging, she served two terms as the Missouri State Auditor.

McCaskill joins headliner General Wesley K. Clark (U.S. Army Retired) as part of the “First in the West” program.

The dinner will be held at the Carson Valley Inn. Tickets are $55 each. For ticket information call 721-1212 or email KimiMCole@gmail.com.

Douglas County Democrats are holding their caucus on Feb. 20. Ten locations have been set up for precinct meetings for the selection of a nominee.
