NNDA seeks nominations for Pioneer Awards

The Northern Nevada Development Authority is seeking nominations for its upcoming Pioneer Awards.

The awards recognize the outstanding businesses in the five-county region. In addition to celebrating the new and expanded businesses in the Sierra Region over the last year, NNDA will recognize those who have achieved outstanding results during this past year. The board of directors of NNDA will decide on the award winners during the month of February.

Winners will be recognized at the banquet on Thursday, April 7 in the Carson Nugget Ballroom.

The list of awards NNDA will be presenting are from the following categories:

Battleborn Award: The leader in green practices.

Boundary Peak Award: What non-profit stood out in 2015?

Comstock Award: Do you know of an innovator that stood out in 2015? Nominate a company or individual.

Doc Holliday Award: Do you know of an outstanding healthcare initiative?

Homestead Award: Do you know of a really great achievement in agriculture?

Kit Carson Award: Help recognize the most outstanding entrepreneur of 2015.

Mark Twain Award: Was there a marketing campaign that really stood out?

Pony Express Award: Giving back to the community is important.

Silver Apple Award: 2015 was a big year for education but who had the best education initiative?

Silver Spur Award: Highlight your outstanding employee.

Silver State Award: Nominate 2015’s most outstanding youth (Grades 9 through 12).

Wagon Wheel Award: Do you know of an innovative new technology, product, or service?

The rules are as follows:

All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Feb. 3.

The nominee must be located in the five county NNDA region: Carson, Churchill, Douglas, Lyon and Storey.

The work being recognized must have been completed in 2015.

All qualified duplicate entries will be accepted.

One person can submit entries for all awards and more than one company per award.

You may submit your own company.

Submissions for the Silver State Award for Most Outstanding Student must include being enrolled in advanced high school classes, hold a 3.5 GPA or above, and has made a significant contribution to their school and/or community.

Tables are available. A VIP table for eight is $850 and includes champagne, red and white wine with premier seating. A normal table of eight costs $700.

Individual tickets are $125 for VIP and premier seating; $95 for an individual.

The events starts at 5 p.m. with a reception & silent auction. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. and awards start at 7.

The reception features a no host bar and appetizers.
