Carson City Court Appointed Special Advocates hosting volunteer training Thursday

Carson City’s Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, is hosting the first session of a 10-week volunteer training class 6-9 p.m. Thursday at CASA of Carson City, 1539 E. Fifth St.

CASA volunteers are appointed by the Carson City Juvenile Court to serve as guardian ad litem for a case of abused or neglected children in a child welfare court case. A background check, references, application, an interview and 30 hours of training are required to become a CASA volunteer. For more information, go to www.casaofcc.org, or call 775-882-6776.
