The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Motor Unit donated $500 to the Catmandu cat and kitten adoption center Wednesday.
The Motor Unit raised the funds during their 13th Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge in June through their T-shirt sales. Carson City Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel said the shelter is a community organization that it chose to sponsor for fundraising because it is supported by solely through donations and it has experienced financial hardship this year.
McDaniel, along with Deputies Matt Smith and Gary Denham presented the check to Catmandu founder Linda Buchanan Wednesday at the Sheriff’s Office.
Catmandu is a cat and kitten adoption center that allows its animals to roam free on the property. The center, located at 1829 Brown Street, is funded completely on donations. Due to lack of funding, Buchanan had to close the shelter for several days in June, however they have been able to reopen since then.
