Silver City hosting free engineering activities for children July 19

Each year, Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties organizes a summer program in Silver City with science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) activities for children. The activities are free, and one need not live in Silver City to attend. Parents are asked to stay and join in the fun at the School House/Community Center at 385 High St.

Engineering activities for ages 7-12 is from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 19 at the School House. Hands-on activities that encourage innovation will be provided by some of Nevada’s sharpest engineering minds. Guest teacher Seena Drapala from the Society of Women Engineers will lead classes for girls and boys.

Silver City is in Lyon County within a national historic district about four miles from Virginia City, seven miles from Dayton and 12 miles from Carson City.
