Program about Carson River is Aug. 6 at Dayton State Park

The Carson River flows through two states, six counties and several communities before it ends in a “sink” east of Fallon. It is one of few terminal rivers in Nevada, meaning that it will never reach the ocean. Join us for a short walk along the river for a talk about the challenges surrounding the use and preservation of this precious natural resource.

The event is at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 at Dayton State Park, which is about 12 miles east of Carson City on U.S. Highway 50. Meet at the picnic area.

The cost is free after the park’s entrance fee of $7 per vehicle. There is a $2 discount for Nevada residents. Cash and checks are accepted.

Participants are encouraged to wear hiking boots or close-toed walking shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water for this short walk.
