According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nationally more than 4,700 people were killed in 2013, and Nevada consistently ranked in the 10 worst states for pedestrian fatalities. So far in 2016, in Carson City several people have been killed while in the crosswalk.

Joining Forces is a multi jurisdictional law enforcement program that promotes statewide enforcement in the problem areas such as distracted driving, speeding and seat belt use.
