Donald Scott, born in Oakland CA on Feb 22, 1933, passed away on May 31, 2016 at the age of 83. He passed in the comfort of his home in Carson City, NV, after a long year of battling many challenges, including the passing of his wife Karen.Born and raised in Oakland, Don pursued a degree in Education from San Francisco State. Shortly after, he moved to Lodi, CA where he began his teaching career. Don was a Navy veteran, who also served as Lieutenant Commander in the Reserves, flying P3 Orion airplanes as a navigator. During this time, he taught English and Film Studies at Los Gatos High School in CA. Don loved teaching and making a positive impact on young lives. He was a favorite amongst his students and developed life-long friendships with many. In his spare time, Don had several hobbies. He was an actor and director, and performed in dozens of plays in various community theaters. He also restored a vintage open wheel midget racer and enjoyed club racing on local dirt tracks in NV and CA. Don is survived by his three children, Frederick, Robert, and Ronald; and grandchildren, Sam, Mitchell, and Benjamin Scott. Don’s ashes will be interned at the Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland CA, beside his parents Alan and Jesse Scott and his brother Richard Scott. No services will be held.
