A motorcyclist was killed Sunday east of Fallon when he slammed into a pickup truck that turned off the highway in front of him.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said Ronald Guypon, 55, of Tacoma, Wash., was heading west on U.S. Highway 50 on a 2004 brown Harley Davidson motorcycle. At the Grimes Point Archaeological Site about 12 miles east of Fallon, Raymond Belleville, 82, of Reno was pulling a travel trailer when he turned left onto a dirt road by the Grimes Point site. Guypon then hit the right passenger door, leaving a deep indentation.

The NHP received the call at 8:20 a.m. The Churchill County Sheriff’s Office first responded to the site and had Guypon transported on Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, where he later died from his injuries. Parameics from Banner Churchill Community Hospital responded to the crash.

The NHP said alcohol or drugs were not involved. The incident is under investigation.
