Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties organizes an annual summer program in Silver City with science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) activities for children. The activities are free, and one need not live in Silver City to attend. Parents are asked to stay and join in the fun at the School House/Community Center at 385 High Street.

Engineering Fun for ages 7-12 is from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday June 28, at the Silver City School House. Hands-on activities that encourage innovation will be provided by some of Nevada’s sharpest engineering minds. Seena Drapala from the Society of Women Engineers will teach classes for boys and girls.

Silver City is in Lyon County within a national historic district about four miles from Virginia City, seven miles from Dayton and 12 miles from Carson City.
